FAQ’s

How long do the tours last?
The tours last about an hour and a half. Please plan to be at the school from 9:30 - 11:00 am.

Do children need to attend the tour?
No, the tour is for parents only. We will meet the children once parents have signed up for our follow up to the tour, our playdate.

How old does my child need to be to apply?
Our TriBeCa location starts at 3-months old. We have 8 classrooms, each accommodating approximately a 6-month age span.

Our West Village location starts at 2-years old. If a child turns 2 after September, s/he may attend school with a caregiver until her/his second birthday.  

Will I be able to see the classrooms?
Yes, you will have the opportunity to tour each classroom and see the children and teachers engaged in activities.

Do I have to submit a fee before the tour?
Yes, the $50 application fee is required at the start of our tour.  

What will the application fee go towards?
At the contract signing, the application fee will be deducted off of tuition.

After I attend a tour, what is the next step?
Parents will sign-up for a playdate to have them and their child in our environment and have a better understanding of our school.

After I complete a phone interview, what is the next step?
The Director of Admissions, the Educational Director and the Executive Director will review your application and discuss the results of the phone interview to determine acceptance. You will receive a phone call from the Director of Admissions if your child has been accepted into the program.

How many months does the contract include?
The contract lasts for ten months (September through June). Depending on availability, a family may enter after the start of the school year.

Is Buckle My Shoe open during the summer months?
Yes, Buckle My Shoe is open in July and August for two three-week sessions. A separate contract will be filled out for Summer Sessions. Students can attend one or both sessions.

How is tuition paid?
Tuition is submitted in four installments.

What happens if I move during the school year?
Once you sign the contract, tuition is non-refundable. We are a non-profit school and teachers’ salaries are based on enrollment and tuition.

Once my child is attending the school, do I have to reapply every year?
No, once your child is enrolled in Buckle My Shoe, you do not need to reapply. Every year, your child will need a new contract which will be filled out in January. Siblings have priority for enrollment and do not need to apply.

When does my child graduate?
Our program includes a unique pre-k program for 4- and 5-year olds. Our graduates leave our school confident, independent and ready to enter a new school for their kindergarten experience.
