Today our friends dove into our art stations. This time around we different types of art and fine motor stations. The first one was continuing our collaborative art piece, painting with spongers. We noticed the children utilizing the sponges not only create an image, but to see how the colors mix together. The next station was finishing up our individual collage pictures of natural materials. In honor of the month of February, our friends are learning about Valentines day. In the writing station section, our friends decorated paper hearts with water color paint. These will be displayed all around the classroom. The last station was weaving pipe cleaners into a straw screen. We noticed how focused our friends became during this project.
During morning meeting we read "The Kissing Hand," by Audrey Penn. It is the story of a mommy Raccoon and a baby Raccoon named, Chester. Mommy Raccoon kisses Chester's hand and when he misses his mommy he can put the hand she kissed against his cheek. He will always know that mommy loves him.
