The students have shown an increasing interest in working with blocks. Today we modeled some skills with the intention of providing some vocabulary, structure, and interest in this rich form of play. Lots can be learned when playing with blocks - children may find themselves grappling with aspects of social and emotional intelligence (when a friend accidentally knocks over a structure), scientific reasoning ("Can I add another block? Will they all come tumbling down?"), gross motor skills (when moving and arranging the blocks). We look forward to encouraging these ambitious builders!
